Subriel Matias (20-1 20 KOs) has signed a multi-fight co-promotional deal with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing and Fresh Productions. Matias is targeting an early summer defense in Puerto Rico.
Matias 31, landed the vacant IBF Super Lightweight Title last February, forcing Jeremias Ponce to retire after five rounds of their clash in Minnesota, and successfully defended his title against mandatory challenger Shohjahon Ergashev in November, forcing another retirement in six rounds in Las Vegas.
Matias has retired five consecutive fighters since his only loss to Petros Ananyan in 2020. Matias avenged his lone defeat to Ananyan by (RTD-9) in 2022.
The frontrunner to face Matias in June is undefeated Australian puncher Liam Paro (24-0 15 KOs). Paro is 2-0 since signing with Matchroom producering two devastating knockout wins over Brock Javis (KO1) and Montana Love (KO6). The recently IBF added Paro to the new February rankings at number seven.
